Lanny Fiel
Lanny Fiel is a multi-instrumentalist, music director, producer, radio author and teacher born in Texas. He studied at the Texas Tech University School of Music and his diverse career in music has seen him working as a guitarist, pianist and violist with artists and groups including Willie and the Red Rubber Band, Jimmy Buffett, and performing as a violist with the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra.
Looking back to the roots of his local area’s music, he has been very involved in the preservation of Texas Panhandle traditional music. His work to document and preserve traditional artists includes albums by Buck Ramsey, Frankie McWhorter, and Joe Stephenson as well as a concerted effort to pass the tradition on to young people teaching fiddle through the The Ranch Dance Fiddle Band 1983 – 2003.
